Why voice beats the form
Most people give up on expense tracking because of friction: open the app, find the category, type the amount, pick the account. If logging takes more than ten seconds, the expense is left "for later" and later it no longer exists.
Dictating an expense reduces everything to one sentence. Transcription and interpretation do the rest: the amount, the most likely category, your usual account and the currency. Your only job is to say what happened, the way you would tell a friend.
Setting up the Amy shortcut
Amy includes actions for the iOS Shortcuts app. From Amy's settings, install the "Log with Amy" shortcut and accept adding it to your library. Then put it wherever you can reach it fastest: as a button in Control Center, on the Lock Screen, as the Back Tap action or as a widget on the Home Screen.
With Siri you do not even need to touch the phone: say "Hey Siri, log with Amy" and dictate the expense when asked. The movement is saved in the background and you see the progress in the Dynamic Island or on the Lock Screen.
What to say so it is saved correctly
A complete sentence has an amount, a concept and, when it applies, an account and a person. "Spent 12 dollars on lunch" is enough for a normal expense. "Paid 60 for gas with the credit card" names the account. "Got paid 300 from the freelance job" logs an income. "Paid 48 euros for the subscription" logs in another currency and Amy helps you convert it to your main one.
If an important detail is missing, Amy asks you to confirm before saving instead of guessing. And if you want to check, open the chat and ask "how much have I spent on food this week?".
One step further: bank notifications and Wallet
With the Shortcuts app you can create automations that send Amy the text of your bank's compatible notifications, for example card purchases, so the expense is logged without you saying anything. The same goes for contactless payments with Wallet: an automation can log the purchase in Amy once the transaction completes.
Amy does not connect to your bank or ask for your credentials: it only receives the text you decide to share through Shortcuts, and your financial data stays yours.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work without an internet connection?
The shortcut keeps the sentence and Amy processes it as soon as the connection is back. With Apple Intelligence, voice transcription happens on your iPhone.
Can I log in another currency?
Yes. Say the amount with its currency, for example "48 euros", and Amy helps you convert it to your main currency using the day's reference rate.
What if Siri mishears the amount?
Amy shows you what it understood before saving whenever there is doubt, and you can always correct the movement from the chat or from the movements list.
