Why many people prefer not to link their bank
Apps that connect to your bank ask for your credentials or third-party access, depend on the connection not breaking and, in several countries, simply do not work with every institution. They also pull in every movement without context: a charge of 86 does not tell you whether it was groceries, a gift or a refund still pending.
Working with receipts and statements gives you the opposite: you choose what comes in, every movement arrives with a concept you understand and your credentials never leave your bank.
The receipt photo: the everyday method
A receipt contains everything you need: merchant, date, total and sometimes the breakdown. Taking the photo in the moment, before you put it away or throw it out, turns logging into a three-second gesture.
For the reading to work well, photograph the whole receipt on a flat surface, with even light and no fingers over the total. If the receipt is long, what matters is that the total and the merchant name are visible; the breakdown is optional.
The PDF statement: catching up all at once
When you have gone weeks without logging, the monthly statement is the shortcut. Download the PDF from your bank's app and upload it: every line becomes a movement with date, concept and amount, ready to review. Your job becomes fixing categories and deleting what does not belong, instead of typing everything from scratch.
A good habit is to review the credit card statement every cycle: that is how you catch duplicate charges, subscriptions you did not remember and the interest you are paying if you only cover the minimum.
How you do it with Amy
In Amy you send the receipt photo or the PDF statement through the chat and the app extracts the movements and shows them to you for review before saving. If every detail is clear, Amy saves them for you; if something does not add up, it asks you to confirm.
"My statement" explains, for your credit card, the minimum payment, the interest and the statement and due dates, so you decide how much to pay with the full picture. Amy does not connect to your bank or store your credentials: you decide which documents to share.
Step by step

What was already logged is not duplicated; what was missing is now up to date.
Frequently asked questions
Which statement formats does Amy accept?
A PDF downloaded from your bank's app or website. If your bank only offers an image, a clear screenshot of the movement detail also works.
Will expenses I already logged by voice be duplicated?
Amy compares the statement's movements with the ones you already have and flags the ones that look repeated so you decide, instead of silently creating duplicates.
Are my receipts stored on a server?
Receipts stay on your device next to the movement. Amy processes the document to extract the data and never hands your bank credentials to any third party.
